Heroes of Olympus the House of Hades

    By Rick Riordan

The House of Hades is the 4th book in the Heroes of Olympus series where seven demigods (half human, half Greek God) are trying to stop the Gaia, the evil Greek goddess of the earth from waking. In this book Percy and Annabeth are trapped in Tartarus, meanwhile the others are trying to close the Doors of Death.
Would you recommend this book to others? I would recommend this book to other people because it is very well written. It is very interesting and it is also a good way of learning the Greek myths.
What is your favourite part of the book? My favourite part of the book is when Nico gets turned into corn, it was funny because people are just not meant to be corn cobs!
What is your favourite thing about the book? My favourite thing about The House of Hades is that it is funny throughout the book. This is one of the funny parts from the book – “Kill farmers!” The voice of Ares screamed in Frank’s head. “Return to the legion and fight Greeks!” Mars said. “What are we doing here?!” “Killing farmers!” Ares screamed back. “Shut up!” Frank yelled aloud. “Both of you!” A couple of old ladies with shopping bags shuffled past. They gave Frank a strange look, muttered something in Italian and kept going.
I like this bit because of the old ladies staring at Frank. It made me laugh.

  2. Tanvi's Book Review

Title: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew

    Author:C.S Lewis

This book was about two children named Diggory and Polly who discover a land called Narnia when Uncle Andrew, Diggory's uncle transports Diggory and Polly to 'The land between the worlds' using a yellow ring. Then they jump into a pool while holding one of their rings and find themselves in Charn where Diggory awakes an evil queen. The evil queen comes back to the normal world with Diggory and Polly and makes Uncle Andrew her servant. Diggory and Polly then accidentally take the witch to Narnia where they see Aslan, a wise lion create Narnia just by singing a song. Then Diggory bravely goes up to Aslan in hope to find something to cure his sick mother. Aslan sends him on a quest to find and pick a silver apple in the middle of a garden. When Diggory and Polly returned the silver apple Aslan told them to plant it. Soon the tree grew and protected Narnia.
I liked this book because it had quite a lot of adventure in it. The book was also mysterious and funny. The book was funny when Aslan put Uncle Andrew to sleep and the other animals thought he was a plant. The animals dug a hole for Uncle Andrew and watered him. When Uncle Andrew didn’t stand up straight, they thought he was wilting and gave him more water.
My favourite character is Aslan because is wise, brave and intelligent. Aslan always keeps calm and he is very kind. He is also very helpful and very, very friendly. Aslan is the oldest, wisest person in Narnia and that’s why he is my favourite character in The Chronicles of Narnia series.
I would recommend this book to a friend because it is interesting, funny, mysterious and adventurous. I think others would really enjoy this book.

    Alex Rider: Stormbreaker
    by Anthony Horowitz

Stormbreaker is the first book in the Alex Rider series about a 14 year old superspy. When Ian Rider (Alex's uncle) is killed in a very suspicious way Alex soon discovers the truth: that his uncle was a spy. In only a few days Alex finds himself caught up with MI6 and only with a false identity and a couple of amazingly disguised gadgets Alex sets of to discover why Multi-Billionaire Herod Sayle is giving away a Stormbreaker computer to every school in the country.
I would recommend this book to others because it is action-packed, it is very interesting, and it is funny in some bits.
I like the main character (Alex) because he is small but still dangerous and I also like his karate skills!
My favourite part of the book would probably be when Alex gets attacked by people on motorbikes with flame throwers in the jungle.

  8. Title: Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods
    Author: Rick Riordan

This book is in the form of short stories and it is divided into several parts. The first few parts explain how the Gods were born and came to rule the world. These stories talk about Kronos and the earlier Olympians such as Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus.

The next part has Greek myths about the later Olympians such as Athena, Aphrodite, Ares, Hephaestus, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes and Dionysus.

What did you learn by reading this book?
By reading this book I learnt about different Greek Gods and came to know about some interesting stories of their life.

Why did you like this book?
I liked this book because it was funny. For example: When baby Hermes was only a few hours old he stole Apollo's cows. Hermes invented the lyre and gave to Apollo so he wouldn't throw him into Tartarus (the pit where monsters regrow).
